Should I Keep Trying To Work It Out? â€Å"First comes to love, then comes marriage, then comes -- the big divorce party?† (Gagnon 124) Marriage can be a beautiful thing, but some couples are unable to maintain their relationship, because they choose divorce as a solution to cope with the problems between husband and wife. Divorce is definitely on the rise. The usual explanations are communication, balance, and commitment, and its hard to disagree with them. Although age is assumed to be the main element of divorce, research indicates that there are more explanations for divorce. â€Å"In the United States, researchers estimate that 40%-50% of all first marriages, and 60% of second marriages, will end in divorce.† (Popenoe 18) A lot of†¦show more content†¦It can be seen that women are more independent of money as they can earn money by themselves to support a living cost. In the past, men had to earn whole money to afford the expense of the family, whereas women only do housework. Everyone has experienced stress in their life. Many people, who live in an economy state, have considerable pressures to earn money. It can be seen that stress has occurred since they were children. Some people are laid off their companies; as a result the stress accumulates in the family, resulting in divorce. Some families can earn money, but insufficient for covering their expenses. The rates of unemployment continually increase as a result the divorce rates can also rise. Stress is no doubt a main contributor for divorce in a marriage. Communication is the bigge st factors of them all. Since the financial status in each family is very important, many people are fairly busy. For this reason, they have insufficient time to talk the problems with their partner, which produces the likelihood of divorce. It is quite clear that the more communication is used, the more divorce rates are reduced. Factors like these do not foreshadow a divorce, they just increase the risk of divorce. â€Å"Researchers have found that about half of all divorces come from relatively low-conflict relationships† (Amato 69) Commitment is a choice.
